SNAIL SLIME TREATMENT IS THE NEW CRAZE

There is nothing new under the sun, snail slime was already used for cosmetic purposes in 2011, and probably even before. Still, a Japanese cosmetics company is now able to draw attention from CNN, Reuters and the Telegraph by using snails during one of their beauty treatments. The "Celeb Escargot Course", as it is called, involves placing a couple of snails on the customer's face for 5 minutes, costing 110 dollars in yen (25,000 forints) at the Ci:z.Labo in Tokyo. The one-hour treatment costs 241 dollars, 54,000 forints, during which the patient's face is also massaged with snail creams.

After a thorough facial cleansing, the beautician places three snails on the customer's face and forehead, which crawl around for a bit and slime their skin. It is not clear from the articles exactly what type of snails are used, but it is certain that the salon's 5 snails are kept clean, fed with organic vegetables and are not placed on the patients' faces dirty. The journalists who tried the treatment said their skin became softer, but dermatologist Dr. Stephen Mandy thinks the whole thing is nonsense.
